80/hour Shift:
3 pm-11 pm Monday through Friday.
APPLICANTS MUST currently live within a 45 hour commute of business location.

Summary/Objective:
The Outside Gate Clerk will be on their feet most of the day and is responsible for inspecting the intermodal units arriving and departing the railroad facility.
This would include inspecting the unit numbers and each trailer and container for damage, as well as completing necessary paperwork as required by the customer.
Essential
Responsibilities:
Inspects all intermodal units for unit initial and number while inputting them into a handheld device.
Maintains accuracy of all trailer/container inspections, ensuring that all security seals are intact on all loaded units.
Responsible for overseeing and documenting any damage to arriving or departing units with timeliness and accuracy to the customer.
Clearly outlines and communicates all damage incurred on appropriate forms and/or computer system with a direct supervisor.
Understanding the risk assessment and risk management process to help identify, evaluate and manage potential risks.
Maintains a quality environment where performance inspections are handled accurately, safely, and accident & injury-free.
Ensures compliance is met under the HAZMAT and OSHA Regulations.
This would include reporting any incidents to the supervisory immediately.
Inspectors are required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), such as a safety vest, safety toe boots, and protective hard hat, when applicable.
Be familiar with all intermodal units, while maintaining a safe distance from moving vehicles.
Ensure clearances are met on all carriages of trailers and containers.
Pick up debris in the inspection area to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Verify temperature settings on refrigerator units.
Take photographs of outgoing container cargo on an as-needed basis.
Responsible for completing all required paperwork for the customer accurately.
Maintain company values, rules, policies, and procedures are met to fulfill the company mission, as well as productive relationships with customers and vendors.
Responsible for special tasks requested by management and/or supervisor.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Advanced knowledge of the railroad industry from a vocational education institute or apprenticeship is preferred but not required, on-the-job training and/or similar work experience.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with a variety of individuals.
Ability to listen, learn, take direction, make changes and work alone or in a group environment.
Must be able to pass a drug test and a 7-year background check.
Work Environment:
Required job duties are performed in outdoor environmental conditions, including rain, snow, ice, cold, heat, wind, dust, and fumes.
The position may also be required to travel throughout the yard verifying the number of units.
The noise level in the work environment is usually frequent.
The ability to work in an environment that may be hazardous to persons unable to see and hear fast-moving equipment.
